Such a law would never stand a constitutional chance in the US upon judicial review, since our constitution (as you know) specifically says that copyrights and patents must expire.
I'm not sure I agree and I can actually pull an example from Techdirt. I like and read Techdirt regularly and occasionally show my support by buying merch. Last year, that included an emoji face mask. The face mask was not functional as a face mask. I mean sure it's got the loops so you can wear it, but in the middle of a pandemic it was a single layer face mask so thin I legitimately thought if I wore it I would have, or at least should have, been called out for not even wearing a face mask.
Have you tried double-masking? That usually works…
Real solutions for US broadband problems start with the understanding that monopolization and corruption are the reasons US broadband sucks. If you can't do that, you're not actually interested in solving the problem, you're engaged in performative fluff and nonsense. Either because you don't actively understand the market you're talking about, or you're working, indirectly or not, to help entrenched monopolists preserve the status quo.
I think it's because the legislators and think tanks want to preserve the monopolist status quo. Without them, no campaign contributions.
Cities like Chattanooga aren't getting into the costly business of building broadband networks because it's fun, they really want to spend the money, or they want to make Comcast and AT&T executives cry.
In all frankness, I do think spending as much money as it takes to make Comcast and AT&T execs shed tears is a worthwhile goal.
The comparison of the break-up and reformation of a monopolistic AT&T to the T-800 saying "Hasta La Vista, baby!" to a frozen T-1000 in Terminator 2 only for it to melt and fuse back together has been made many, many times.
I've made it.
Stephen Colbert and his writers made it.
You made it.
The analogy is just so obvious that it's really just begging to be made.
Your honor, The record shows the there was anti-SLAPP motion based on California law filed in a United States District Court between Herring Networks, based in California, and MSNBC, based in New York. However, there is no Federal anti-SLAPP law!!! So California Law cannot apply to New York parties!

Well, Castlevania uses Count Dracula as a character, and the first game (at least the first one to appear in the west outside of Japan) has Frankenstein's Monster in it as a boss.

Except the DC and Warner Bros. catalog, but those should be in the public domain anyway.

Yow! So nobody can do what the US Government did to them back in the 1980's and break them up into little pieces again?
That's frightening! 😮😢
