Re: I don't think any "culture" is actually lost, you just have to pay for it.
No culture being lost? I have met parents whose children do not even know who Mickey Mouse is because Disney refuse to allow him to ascend to the public domain. That is an incredible shame because the older generations will speak of the great pleasure they had as kids watching Mickey Mouse for the first time.
Piers Morgan favours gun control, some citizens want him deported. That is one of the most idiotic things that I have heard come out of the US in many a year, even more idiotic than this.
I love how some Americans can forget completely about the 1st amendment when defending the 2nd amendment (see the fury over Piers Morgan). I think freedom of speech is more important than the right to bear arms, people.
What a load of bollocks propaganda designed to make people accept the limiting of their freedoms. If people do not wake up and stop heading for the cliff like a herd of lemmings, they will find themselves living in the Orwellian nightmare (I really hope I don't have to explain that for simpletons like OOTB).
Well, I have taken all my Amazon bought e-books off my Kindle, stripped the DRM, converted them to a more widely recognised format and have them backed up in different locations, and I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. I bought them with my own money and should be able to do what I want with them for my own use, and I am not sharing them.
War on terror = unwinnable and only gets you more enemies
War on drugs = unwinnable and only makes law enforcement look incompetent
War on piracy = unwinnable and only makes politicians look corrupt and the entertainment industries look greedy
Just think what the billions spent on these unwinnable wars could have been spent on - a decent healthcare system that looks after EVERYONE, a decent education system that brings the best out of EVERYONE, job creation programmes that benefit EVERYONE....the list goes on.
The sad thing is that we are so dulled by years of broken promises, hypocrisy and corruption from elected officials that stories like these barely have an effect on us. We just expect it.
