I've had a bad flight that made me not want to fly, but I wouldn't consider that the fault of the airline. It just means I'm not really cut out for flying. If I'm not able to handle the requirements of a job, that's my own problem.
He (Bambauer) is pointing out that, despite this being censorship, not all forms of censorship are seen as inherently bad. I have no idea why you're interpreting it the way you are.
I don't mind advertisements. I know they're a significant source of funding for the sites I visit, and I don't resent them. But sometimes certain types are particularly annoying.
If anyone actually cares, just look at the situation with The Witcher (for PC) and its sequel. They have had great gamer response to their removal of the DRM, and it was actually a selling point for one of the online retailers during their launch of the sequel.
On an unrelated note, the "Hover to see video" is very annoying to me because I often move my mouse out of the text box to type. It popped up on me twice while writing the above comment.
I prefer the mens rea-style systems, myself, where you actually know if what you're doing is breaking the law. Or, in this case, you actually know that you're copying a patented invention, as you only know the process because the amazingly non-obvious solution is listed out in easy-to-follow steps in a patent.
He was saying he doesn't have to rely on the security of the email box and transit, since all the vital information is only accessed through a secure website and not sent in an easily-intercepted email anyway.
I read an article in a newspaper recently (since it was lying around at work) about the decline of mens rea in laws. That's exactly what you're talking about.
I think it's not fear mongering, it's pointing out the irony of security equipment that is normally used to screen for weapons being used to screen for video devices and not weapons (implying that the video devices are far more dangerous).
