"Amazon is not legally wrong, they're just morally wrong (and probably walking down a slope they can't get back up)."
I have to agree with that as the most sensible assessment so far. I don't know if I'll outright boycott Amazon, but they lost their spot in my heart. I'd have to really want something they had, or it would have to be a smokin deal, or I'll vote with my wallet & buy elsewhere.
There was an episode of Boston Legal where; An aids survivor whose body had just overcome the disease, tried to patent his DNA, only to find, his doctor had already done so.
"From that perspective $300k for CEO of a big charity isn't particularly offensive "
And yet it is. I still contend there are many people who would do that job well for much less, leaving the excess for the charity.
The prospective you seem to have lost is; that the people giving to that charity only see the good it can do the prospective clients. They do not (for the most part) agree to finance an executive life style, with company cars, expense accounts, assistants up the wazoo also pulling executive wages and benefits, + a golden parachute retirement package.
For my part I only give to local charities, where I actually meet the people doing the work. The nationals can do whatever they chose, just not with my money.
Tax the rich feed to poor til there are no rich no more.
Idealism aside, you might not like the world you suggest creating, as much as you might think.
You may want to visit a rural part of a 3rd world country, where the people have done so much with so little for so long they attempt the impossible with nothing.
There is no reason for a $300k salary for the head of a charity. I'd have no problem with less than $100k, but you can't tell me that no one with acceptable credentials would run a charity for that kind of money. Highly qualified leader types are out there flipping burgers for minimum wage, just to have a job.
True that. I tell them to screw off, so I almost never get counted. The rare occasion when I'm bored enough to answer a pollsters questions, however will result in the conservative viewpoint, with the exception that I'm ok with abortion, and think the earth is more than 6k years old.
I grew up on mom and pop pizza but still prefer a Pizza Hut, Meat lovers, stuffed crust, to any I've had previously. Most mom and pops places now use the conveyor oven, & scrimp on quality to compete with the chains. I can't remember the last "to die for" pizza I have had, including small shops with real brick ovens, tossed crust, etc. The magic is either there or it isn't
I had a 1970 Volvo 145, same engine, heavier and less streamlined, and it would give around 25 mpg driven aggressively, I never tried driving for maximum economy, so can't report, but imagine it could deliver 30ish mpg driven properly.
There are things on the net I'd like to help support, but linking to my Paypal info, and therefore to my real identity, is a deal breaker. I don't need to find out later that is coming back to bite me on the ass.

"Its called Democracy..."
I'd like to live where you live, unfortunately I'm stuck in reality. In reality politicians are bought and paid for, and citizens are too disorganized to actively protest, let alone affect change. The 2 party system locks out any change, as the candidates are chosen to be a choice between 2 evils. Anarchy did score one big win in getting rid of prohibition, and it is still working on marijuana. Not huge useful victories, but you take what you can get.
At my age it matters little as to credit score. My house is paid off, as are my cars, I tend to pay cash for my cars. I don't have a lot of moral dilemma over not paying a rip off. Any sort of honorable debt, I'll eat beans and rice to pay off, for rip offs, not so much.
I'm a normally responsible person, I pay my bills, on time. However, were I to get a cell phone bill for $10,000, I'm afraid they would have to eat it, even if that meant going phoneless forever.
I have no desire to fly, since the TSA, it is more bother than it is worth. So if I could take someone place on the list for money or other consideration.......
