Microsoft wants closure

from the waiving-the-white-flag dept

It seems that Microsoft wants to bring the anti-trust case to a close as soon as possible. I have to admit that I feel sort of sorry for Microsoft, no one (not even a software monopoly) deserves to be drowned in red tape for such a long period of time. I hope they get their wish, to be honest it's a real non-issue now anyway.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Last month they WANTED IT dragged out...

I don't feel sorry for them at all. It wasn't too long ago, that they were committed to dragging it out, in hopes that in doing so would delay (or deminish) any sort of possible breakup. The more time they have to prepare, the better off they'd be.

I don't feel sorry at all.

I guess it's like that saying be careful what you wish for, you just might get it! They might well be getting more anti-competitive stuff in Europe, as the European Commission probes Windows 2000.
