Return of Tech Plays

So, now that people are getting a little negative about dot coms, where should entrepeneurs and investors look ? According to Red Herring, the answers pretty obvious go for technology companies (not just companies selling services). I can definitely understand their thinking as the barriers to entry are increased in tech plays, therefore potentially decreasing the number of copy cats. However, as always there are still attractive areas for companies offering services and merchandise (they'll just have to focus further in particular market niches).
