No More Phone in the Desert

I know I've spoken about the phone in the desert story here before, but here's an update. It seems that the National Parks Service has put an end to it by removing the phone. They say that there's now too much traffic to the phone (though there's no evidence of that).

Strange...
P.S. - I asked the man about the indian fellow that would usually answer. He said he had left because his journey/vacation was over; whatever that meant.
Anyone else ever get an answer?
