The Internet Must Be Regulated

Well, I'm sure a lot of people will have fun with this one. Novelist Caleb Carr explains why the internet must be regulated. I can think of a number of reasons why his proposals would never work, but the most basic of them is his concept of labeling things as being "true" or not. How in the world does he expect people to define "truth"? It seems he's expecting the government to do so - which is one of the funniest concepts I've heard in a while. Since when has the government been concerned about truth over politics? It comes down to what we've said before: if people are trained to read things with a critical eye, this wouldn't be a problem. Mr. Carr seems to think that people are stupid and that the government will somehow be much smarter. I find that hard to believe.
