Napsterizing B2B

from the b2p? dept

An interesting article about someone who's trying to "Napsterize" B2B transactions. What he realized is that most businesses already have relationships with their suppliers and vendors. All the B2B marketplaces are failing because they're actually making the process worse, and more confusing by ignoring all of those relationships. So, the new plan is to build tools that help make those already built relationships better by letting them make deals and work together directly over the internet. Technically, of course, this isn't Napsterizing B2B at all. Maybe it's more of "Aimsterizing" B2B, but that's getting too picky. I still think it's a good idea - and I think it's the type of thing that Ray Ozzie and Groove are looking at also. Now let's see if anyone actually uses any of these things.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    No Subject Given

"Napsterizing" B2B would be great: You could see all of your competitors' business deals (and those from other industries as well) and pick and choose the ones you wanted. With a click of the mouse you'd get the exact same thing they did.

It's the definition of perfect knowledge that defines the utopia of capitalism...

      Re: No Subject Given

True but busineseses currentlyl get their advantages through the lack of this transparency. The big corporates probably won't like it and the small guys won't like it too much either (because they'll never be able to increase their profits above a certain point).
