Customers Can't Be Tricked Anymore

An article in Fast Company suggests that the web is preventing companies from pulling a fast one on its customers. The example used was American Airlines offering a special promotion, but blocking out certain cities. The news spread on the web and AA was bombarded with phone calls and emails. The writer suggests that American was blindsided by the web reaction - which did cause them to change the policy. Personally, I think this is silly. Things like this have been happening for a while, so this is certainly nothing new. However, it's American Airline's right to chose which cities get certain promotions. There's no reason that they should lose money just because a bunch of folks feel their entitled to a perk. Yes, it's smart to listen to your customers, but not to the point at which you can't make any money.
