IBM Gets Ready To Take Orders On TransNote
from the new-laptop-designs dept
I'm not sure how well it will be accepted, but IBM is getting ready to take orders on its new Transnote portfolio computer. I have to admit, that this is the most thought out laptop design I've seen in a while. It is a thin "portfolio" with a laptop on one side and a digital note pad on the other, so you can take notes, which will immediately be transferred to the laptop. This is the first real advancement I've seen in laptop design in a while, where they're actually thinking about what some people use their laptops for - and how to provide that functionality better. I realize this product probably has some limited markets (they're targeting lawyers and students), but it's good to see some people are expanding on the simple laptop design. Here are the details on the Transnote.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
