Rethinking Free PCs In The Corporate Space

It wasn't that long ago that companies like Ford and Delta made a lot of news in announcing they were going to provide their employees with free PCs and internet access for their homes. Now, some of those companies are rethinking those programs. They had thought that the programs would pay for themselves as they would get a cut of any e-commerce transactions the employees made at their "shopping portal". That's just not happening, though. The companies were also a little surprised by some fo the costs (shipping PCs to far off locations and finding internet access wasn't always cheap). However, most are sticking with their plans (though slightly modified) and recasting the programs as a good way for their employees to get up to speed with the internet - which may help the company in other ways. All of them deny that they're hoping employees will do more work from home.
