Cisco Fractures Its Own Fairy Tale

from the blame-the-CEO-week dept

A long article from Fortune basically blaming Cisco CEO John Chambers for being so used to good news that he ignored all the bad news. There have been a bunch of "what happened at Cisco?" articles recently, but this one is pretty detailed about the mistakes they made. Start with some hubris, throw in a big bet on a market that disappeared, and add in some products that weren't so good, and you have a recipe for trouble. Welcome to Cisco stew. Of course, Chambers is still optimistic, and believes they'll pull out of it okay - and many agree with him. Apparently the "optimism" ingredient in the stew is still tasting good.
