eBay Prices Dropping
from the kidneys-for-20%-off dept
A new study shows the prices that people bid for on eBay itesm has been dropping which could upset sellers. eBay has been increasing their listing prices, and if the returns are getting lower for sellers, then that could be a problem. Of course, for buyers, this could mean more deals. Just think how much NewYorkCity.com would have gone for a year ago.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

My experience confirms this
I recently auctioned a motherboard and two Intel processors, and got about HALF of what I was expecting. I ran my auction before Intel cut prices on their recent processors, so I was really surprised by the lack of response. Prior to that I auctioned a hardware firewall and got about maybe 20% less than I was expecting.
Two years ago I was able to auction electronic goodies and actually get more than the selling price. I guess we went from one extreme to another.
