There are thousands of reasons why the concept of ordering ice cream online sounds wrong. In fact, this article lists a number of those reasons. However, for some people who are looking for a particular boutique brand or flavor of ice cream, and are willing to pay nearly double the price of the ice cream to cover shipping - it's the way to go. It sounds like the ice cream makers, for the most part, don't think it's a big deal. As far as they're concerned, if people want to order their ice cream online, it's fine by them. Luckily, no one's talking about pitching VCs about the "world's biggest ice cream store".
