Komag Forces Workers To Repay Overpaid Severance

from the oops dept

Okay, if you're a struggling technology firm, and you lay off a bunch of people, I think it would be near the top of your list to make sure you didn't overpay their serverance. And then, a few weeks down the road, when you realized that you were idiotic, and had overpaid, would you forced the employees you kicked out into the streets to pay you back? That's what Komag did. It's not that surprising to find out that a lot of the Komag ex-employees are pissed off - and aren't paying back the money.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Tough

I would say 'hard cheese' to Komag. It's your mistake. Next time, make sure everything is alright before you send out the cheques. You'd think they'd be watching all money like hawks becuase they've posted losses for three straight years. Just my 2 cents.
