Forget The Ergonomic Keyboard

from the change-your-life dept

For all that talk about RSI and ergonomic keyboards, it turns out those funky split keyboards might not help at all. In fact, in some cases, they may make things worse. The best way to solve ergonomic problems associated with sitting in front of a computer all day is to... well... not sit in front of a computer all day.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Computer game players don't get RSI and yet they play for hours. Doh! THey are generally younger and thus have faster bodily repair rates. I used to be an avid player of computer games 20 years ago, and also wrote 27 games which I sold. Didn't get RSI. But I did get it whilst working 10 hours a day after 6 years. I don't think I ever played computer games that intensively.

These articles really annoy me. I've had RSI since 1994, adn I work for myself, (so I don't stand to benefit from defrauding my employer)
so don't tell me it isn't for real.

    Nice picture in the article!

The best picture in that article shows a cat holding with a computer mouse with a caption saying, "cats can use mice too" -- I wonder if that PawSense software works for that? :)
