High Tech Survival Guide

from the how-to-get-that-job dept

With the number of out-of-work techies that I know, I figure this might be a useful article. Some guy wrote a 20 page book that gives you useful tips on how to find a job these days. It sounds like this isn't the typical junk that you get from job placement books, but really useful tricks like how to reach the hiring manager directly - and scripts to use when calling. I'm never sure how well any of these methods work, but it probably couldn't hurt to check it out if you've been having problems finding a job. You could also just go straight to Amazon and check out the High Tech Survival Guide.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    The High-Tech Survival Guide

    Mike,
You're right. I bought it off Amazon based on a friend's recommendation and I love it! At 20 pages, it's not one of those big career books and he's got dozens of ideas to actually get a hold of the hiring manager.
    It's a great book.
    Melissa.
