The Laws Of Physics May Be Changing

from the it's-time-to-break-the-laws-of-physics! dept

Remember all those physics classes you took? Me neither. But, it might not matter that much any more because the laws of physics may change over time. Actually, I wouldn't get too excited yet. A new study, however, suggests that there may be some minor modifications to laws of physics over time. Obviously this brings up a whole lot of questions, and would require a ton more research before anything could be confirmed. However, it is a nice idea to think that the "laws of physics" might not be so stringent.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Why is this news?

There is considerable (though often poo-pooed and hushed up) evidence that the speed of light is changing and that some other "constants" are not that constant. This has been around for years, so it is pretty obvious that if the constants change that the laws will change!
