Dumb, Dumber, And TheGlobe.com

from the not-looking-good dept

Yet another review of Stephan Paternot's memoirs about TheGlobe.com. While the last review we pointed to suggested that he wrote with as much skill as he managed the company, this review goes much further in trashing Paternot. The review says he "displays a sophomoric lack of insight into his own experiences that pencils him in as much younger than even the 27-year-old former dot-com co-CEO that he is." Wow. Now, that's harsh. It also points out that he pretty much spends the whole book trying to explain how brilliant he was in starting and running theGlobe.com. At the end, in talking about all the losses, however, he suggests that since everyone lost money, it's not because of his own stupidity that theGlobe tanked. Salon points out that he seems to miss the fact that on the run up, everyone was making money as well - suggesting that it had nothing to do with his own brilliance.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
