eBook Forecasts Were A Bit Premature

Is it any surprise that over-excited book publishing companies were completely wrong about their ebook enthusiasm (NYTimes registration or some other sneaky method required to read)? They actually thought that people would pay extra to read books that can't easily be carried (or passed) around and which involve all sorts of technical problems that the old paper versions don't seem to encounter. Sure, they've done their best to stop piracy of ebooks, but the cost is that they're not selling any either.
