Wi-Fi-ing Airports Not So Easy

Back when Metricom was still in business, I used my ricochet modem in a number of airports to have internet access while waiting for flights. When I complained about this loss to some friends, they said that I shouldn't worry because almost every airport would soon offer 802.11b access. It might not be that easy. The companies that are willing to set up wi-fi systems for airports are discovering that it's very difficult and extremely expensive to get full coverage throughout an airport. Many of the companies simply won't be able to survive based on the costs.
