Cheap Airline Fares Available Online
from the incredible dept
A bunch of my friends are planning on flying from San Francisco to Las Vegas for a night (back in time to go to work the next morning a little drunker, and probably a little poorer) because rountrip tickets are $33 (less than the price of a cab ride from San Francisco to the airport). It seems that airlines are pushing all sorts of cheap fares to get people flying again. I've seen $100 tickets from SFO to NYC. Meanwhile, everyone I know who has flown in the past couple of weeks says that planes are less than 50% full. Doesn't bode well the airline industry. However, for consumers, now is probably a great time to fly. Hotwire and Orbitz said they were getting plenty of traffic, since many airlines stopped publishing their last minute fare deals since they didn't want to appear insensitive following September 11.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
