Coffee Makers Discover The Internet

from the well,-it's-about-time dept

Does anyone else think it's a little weird that the coffee industry held a one day seminar on e-commerce? Apparently, they're not big users of the internet, and many people think it will help the industry become more efficient. I guess GreatCoffee.com was just ahead of their time (the site is basically a graveyard site - it's all there, but nothing works).

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    No Subject Given

The title implies that the ubiquitous home appliance -- the coffee maker -- will soon be plug into the net. Too bad the article wasn't about that.

I can't wait until I can log into my coffee maker from work and tell it to have a cup of coffee ready for me when I walk through the door. Or log into my VCR from work and tell it to record Undeclared because I'll be at work late. Or log into my vacuum cleaner and tell it to vacuum the house because I'll have company coming home with me. Ahhhh... Ain't the future great?
