Fiftieth Anniversary Of Computers And Business
from the all-started-with-pies dept
Apparently we've reached the
fiftieth anniversary of computers being used in businesses. Interestingly, the first "business computer" was built by a catering company, Lyons, to help them evaluate the costs, prices and margins for that week's output of bread, cakes and pies. The company eventually spun off a computing company called LEO that (you'll notice) isn't around today. So much for that "first mover advantage".
