OddTodd Takes On Mahir-Like Status
from the net.fame dept
A few weeks back someone sent me to OddTodd.com to check out the flash animation he had there. It is pretty damn funny, and I passed it on to a bunch of friends (mostly the laid off ones). It seems that I wasn't the only one. Since then it's been sent back to me five or six times. It seems that OddTodd is now reaching Mahir-like cult status on the internet - and is even pulling in noticeable cash from his requests for donations (though one person told him he'd burn in Hell for soliciting money through his site). He's even had women asking if they can meet him (a real sign that you've made it to net.fame). Now he's hoping this bit of sudden fame will allow him to get a more creative job when (if) he ever gets a new job.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
