Headline Writers Spin The Dot Com Collapse

Well, this is interesting. News.com and ZDNet are, of course, both owned by CNET. They often publish the exact same article on both sites, though they often change the headline. It's interesting to see how different headlines can change the slant of the article. Take a look at this example. News.com takes the negative viewpoint by telling us that more dot coms than ever failed last year, while ZDNet is more optimistically telling us that dot coms are making a comeback. Yup, it's the same article. While both headlines are supported (somewhat) by the text of the articles, I find it amusing that they suggest such opposite things if you were to just read the headlines.
