Time To Get Hostile

The new trend in mergers seems to be the return of the hostile takeover. Forget a friendly merger, now companies are coming along and taking what they want. There are a number of reasons for this, including the recession (which makes stuff cheaper) and a chance in accounting rules (which makes stuff easier). Recent examples include Comcast's attempt (eventually successful) to takeover AT&T Broadband and Yahoo's recent stealing of HotJobs from Monster.com.
