The Broadband Snob

from the well-at-least-I-don't-look-down-at-people dept

As many of you know, I am the broadband Bermuda Triangle. However, here is the official broadband snob. She looks down on those "56k" people and won't touch their computers. She tries to convince everyone she knows to sign up for broadband as well, so they stop mooching off of her. I don't know, but to me it sounds like a challenge. Maybe I should figure out who her broadband provider is and see if I can take them down.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    History

Mike, I think there must be a better historical analogy than the Bermuda Triangle--perhaps somebody famous for being on more than one ship that sunk. (The opposite of the Unsinkable Molly Brown.) Or maybe some WWII pilot who was shot down a lot. But I can't think of any example like that. Maybe you're the Typhoid Mary of Broadband. Does that fit any better?

I'd say the reference was apt...

...after all when you second broadband provider disappears, you're well on your way to a trend

I wonder if Ms. Schelmetic is aware of the potential security problems?
