Power Napping Device
from the oh-please dept
I was just having a conversation this weekend about the importance of "power naps" and how I thought that many companies should allow employees to take a 20 - 30 minute nap at some point during the day to refresh themselves, and make them more alert and productive for the times they're awake. Now, a company is making a power napping device which is a Handspring module. Apparently, you plug the thing into your Handspring, and put your thumb on the sensor. The system then sets off an alarm when it senses you going into deep sleep. Personally, I find the wristwatch with the countdown timer set permanently to 25 minutes does the trick for me when I want to take a power nap. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than the $100 device, and I don't have to sleep next to a Handspring with my thumb tied to it.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
