Fixed Wireless On The Rise

A month ago we posted an article about some small fixed wireless ISPs that were finding local success, at the same time that larger national companies like Sprint and AT&T were abandoning fixed wireless efforts. Now, it turns out that fixed wireless adoption is growing thanks to many of these small local ISPs. It's fairly inexpensive to set up a system that can bring it pretty steady revenue streams. They say that a $25,000 setup can lead to $1.8 million in revenue (though, there are many more costs to keep the service running). The most interesting thing is that the places where fixed wireless is really catching on are areas (mostly rural) where major telecom companies have given up on attempts to provide DSL or other broadband options.
