Secrets Of A Technology Turnaround Ace

from the brutal,-but-effective dept

An article from Business 2.0 talking about the process that Gores Technology Group uses to turn around a struggling tech company. GTG is making quite a name for themselves buying up discarded tech companies for next to nothing and turning them into profitable businesses quickly. While most of the points listed in the article seem fairly obvious (business school 101), they're not so easy to do - or everyone would be doing them. Basically, it gets down to focusing on core competencies of the company, getting rid of excess anything, forgetting any sentimental attachements, and figuring out how to make money. Sounds simple, right?

Here's a good book on corporate turnarounds, i think the best one:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1893122026/qid=1011339905/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_15_1/104-247881 5-7419901

warren buffet says turnarounds never work and aren't worth it. by the way.
