China Tightens Internet Controls

It seems that it's going to be more and more difficult to offer internet services or do anything at all on the internet in China. The latest controls set up by the Chinese government will require all ISPs to save and scan every email sent through them for dangerous or subversive material. They're also responsible for any material the government doesn't agree with that gets posted to a website. Also, any foreign software provider has to guarantee (in writing) that their software won't allow any spying or hacking on a Chinese computer. All this certainly makes you wonder if whoever wrote the policy understands anything at all about computers and the internet. What's that story about the King who commanded the tide not to come in?
