Yahoo As A War Criminal
from the seems-a-bit-harsh dept
A French court is looking to charge Yahoo! and its former CEO, Tim Koogle in a criminal court for condoning war crimes because they've allowed Nazi merchandise to be sold through their site. Of course, this case has been going on forever, and a US judge has already said that the US-based company doesn't have to comply with French laws on their US-based site. But, escalating this to criminal court and naming the former CEO as well seems like they're going a bit over the top.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

criminal law
We've seen the U.S.A. enforce it's own brand of
law all over the world. The U.S.A. has even
invaded other nations and kidnapped citizens of
other nations only to throw them in U.S.A. jails
for things that were not crimes in the citizen's
home country.
I say fire the bugger! Take manifest destiny
back down a notch. Super power only has created
a super bully!
