FTC Stops .usa Sellers

from the nice-try dept

The FTC has shutdown a UK company that was trying to sell people domain names using the .usa TLD. Of course, .usa doesn't actually work on the internet anywhere, so the company was tricking people into paying $60 for... well... nothing. And, of course, they did so by hyping up how "patriotic" it would be to have a website that ended in .usa. What I want to know is how many people actually got suckered into believing such a thing?
