Oxford University Press To Create Online (For Pay) Reference Library

from the pay-up dept

In our continuing saga of stories about online subscription based business models comes news that Oxford University Press is planning on building a huge online reference library. They say it will dwarf any other general content site out there. Of course, all that info will come at a price. They're going to start out charging around $250/year for schools (I imagine they mean for students) up to $4,260 for libraries. They don't really indicate how much it would be for the general user. Though, I imagine the general user isn't the target audience - and most general users wouldn't see that much value in so much general coverage of so many topics.

    Schools

They mean schools not individual students. So a school's library pays up and all the students can use the reference works.
