Divine Buys Viant

from the merger-between-failures dept

Remember Viant? The overhyped internet consultancy? I wasn't even sure if they were still around. Remember Divine? The overhyped internet incubator that never went anywhere, and keeps changing its business model. Well, now they're a single company. Divine has bought what's left of Viant. Consolidation among failing companies. I guess that's one way to try to keep going.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Racial Discrimination/EEOC violations

I am surprised that Viant would let itself get acquired by divine, especially with all the dirt about to be exposed.
Strong word going around that a major discrimination suit will hit the stumbling incubator, as it bungles its way trying to manage its newest wave of layoffs.
Does Viant not care to do any real research on this and other stories about to hit the press?

    Re: Racial Discrimination/EEOC violations

Word has it that the EEOC has issued right to sue letters to support the class action cause. Last week divine announced a 50% pay cut for the next 2 pay periods. This was announced a few days after a mandatory 5%pay cut was announced to anyone making over 60k. Time to get out.
