Prepaid Phone To Be Joined by Prepaid Content
US carriers have been getting pretty aggressive with prepaid phone services targetted at the youth market. The next step is giving users access to digital conent for those phones. But how do you charge prepaid customers for content? Ideally it would be tied into carriers' existing prepaid billing system. But that's expensive. So carriers are going to work with players like Digital Bridges who will distribute content via prepaid vouchers available at retail outlets. This will probably work until one carrier updates their billing system and then they will all be forced to do so.
