Wi-Fi Goes To Work At Boeing
While WiFi is becoming increasingly popular in offices where it seems like a nuisance to set up a wired LAN, it's also finding its way into places where a network was virutally impossible before. Boeing, for instance, has covered their 98-acre hangar in Washington with WiFi access points, so workers can look up things on computers anywhere in the hangar. They used to have to walk all the way to one end where there were a few terminals. In order to put the access points in to cover the whole area, they hung a bunch from the ceiling, 50 to 100 feet up in the air.
