Last week we posted the article about the UK backing off plans to let just about any random government agency have access to all sorts of private records, admitting that they had made a "mistake". The BBC gets into some of the details of the "geek-powered" campaign to lobby against the plan. Basically, a bunch of folks in the UK got lots of people to fax their local MPs, and the people receiving the faxes took notice (amazing, but true). Of course, the official story from Danny O'Brien, who helped organize the campaign suggests they had some help from the son of the Home Secretary who, after reading about the whole thing online told his father what a moron he was being. Simple, yet effective.
