Does Adware Even Work?

The third part in the series from News.com about adware/spyware looks at whether or not adware even works. There's no conclusive evidence. The companies producing the adware (of course) say it works great, and give evidence of higher clickthroughs as proof. However, a few initial studies have only shown that adware works in pissing users off. It seems, unfortunately, that a lot more companies are experimenting with putting their ads into adware systems, though.
