More Evidence Of How The Entertainment Industry Doesn't Get It

from the in-case-you-didn't-realize dept

It's time for more idiotic quotes from the media industry. The head of News Corp, who we quoted in an earlier post, apparently also complained about "enormous amount" of bad content online. This fits well with the post we had last week about media titans "not getting it". If the content is online, it matters to someone. The media titans still seem to think that if they didn't produce the content, then it's crap. So, by their thinking, the world needs the "real" content from the media industry - and this is their way of threatening not to provide it, unless we block what makes the internet useful. You know what? I really don't need News Corp or Fox content online. I'm pretty happy with the content that's online now.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Someone once said...

"90% of everthing is crap" -- Theodore Sturgeon

Not much has changed, expect it's more like 99% now...
