Sponsor Pulls Support For Anti-Counterfeiting Bill

Back in July we posted a story about a bill that had been written to prevent the physical counterfeiting of software, which had been very quietly tweaked to include any effort to defeat a digital watermark - even if for non-infringing uses. The co-sponsor of the bill has just announced that he's pulling his support of the bill because he's afraid of the liability issues it opens up - particularly for ISPs. While I'd like to believe that maybe he just came to his senses and realized why this bill is dangerous for everyday Americans, it looks like he was just lobbied hard by ISPs. Actual citizens don't seem to have much say, it seems.
