Get It Now

Not to be out done by SprintPCS Vision, Verizon Wireless is launching an application downloading service name Get It Now. Like SprintPCS Vision, Get It Now aims to make the the wireless web a richer experience than WAP. But instead of using browser based applications, Verizon is using Qualcomm's BREW platform to let customer download function specific applications. Some application are charged on a pay-per-use basis while others are subscription based. Browser based services and applet based services aren't mutually exclusive, they can and will co-exist. The interesting aspect of the downloadable application model is that users maybe more willing to pay since they already understand the concept of buying an application for their PCs. Games and ringtones will probably be the most successful. We're a bit more skeptical of the productiviy type applications due to costs and device limitations.
