Second Crop Of BMW Films Getting Ready
from the smart-advertising dept
Back in June we had an article saying that BMW was so happy with their first set of advertainment films that they were working on a second set. Today there's an article with more details about the current crop of films that spends more time discussing why exactly BMW is doing this. On the whole, I think it's very smart advertising. Unlike most advertising, which is seen as intrusive and annoying, this is advertising that people not only want - but that they actively seek out. It's truly targeted. While some people think that it blurs the lines between advertising and entertainment, I'm not sure why that's such a big deal. This isn't an attempt to be misleading. It is an attempt to entertain people while getting some brand awareness. I'd take that over a pop up ad campaign any day.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
