Copyright Law And Roasted Pig - Lessig Pushes His Campaign Forward

from the roasted-mouse dept

Now that Larry Lessig has finished presenting to the Supreme Court on the Eldred case, he's keeping up the public relations barrage, getting published everywhere he can. The latest is a piece in Red Herring where he explains again why current copyright law is a problem. He argues that most of the books that were written 75 years ago are now out of print, and impossible to bring back to print or to put online due to the legal nightmare it would create. He suggests that current copyright law (as we all know) is designed to help a few companies (notably Disney) hang on to their monopoplies. Lessig argues that this is a case where Congress is "burning the house to roast the pig".
