Hacking Is Illegal Search And Seizure

from the nice-try dept

A judge has ruled that hacking into home computers without a warrant is a violation of the 4th Amendment rights against illegal search and seizure (though, these days, it seems things like Constitutional rules are a bit more "flexible" than they used to be). This, of course, makes a ton of sense, and it's a bit scary that the FBI told a hacker-vigilante to specifically break into someone's computer to get extra evidence against him.

finally some sense from a judge :)

I wonder if this ruling could be used as a precedent should the bill allowing Music companies to hack your PC if they suspect you have illegal copies come through.
