Red Light, Green Light: A 2-Tone LED To Simplify Screens

The NY Times has a good article about the latest breakthrough in LED technology where some researchers created a two-tone LED that could eventually be used to make low power, foldable computer screens. While some have thought about using closely spaced LEDs of different colors to build a screen, the new discovery suggests that multi-colored LEDs may make the process easier and better. The surprising results even suggest ways that LEDs could be made to be tri-colored, so that a single LED could switch from red to green to blue, displaying all three colors you need.
