Unwiring McGill
Unstrung looks at what it took to unwire McGill University in Montreal. Currently 40 of the school's 125 buildings have Wi-Fi access. The set up cost them $263,000 to install, which seems expensive when you consider they only have 100 simultaneous connections using the network. But they expect that to change as students move from desktop machines to laptops. Universities around the US are also deploying Wi-Fi for students and this will get them used to having wireless interent connections on demand. It's this generation of students that will drive the demand for wireless interent services over the next few years.
