Tech Recovery Will Begin At 2:15 PM (PST) On June 21st
from the you-heard-it-here dept
National Semiconductor's CEO Brian Halla claimed that a friend of his had worked out a mathematical model to prove when the economic recovery in the tech sector would begin. Last November, at Comdex, he said that he was sure it would start on June 21st. In the past three months since that remark, he suggests his friend has refined the model to now show that the recovery will still start on June 21st, but at 2:15 PM. When asked, he clarified the point that he's talking about 2:15 PM Pacific Time. Clearly he's poking a little fun at everyone trying to predict the recovery (and his prediction still fits in with my Just Two More Quarters theory to predicting the end of the tech downturn. However, on a more serious note, he does believe that the recovery will occur and that digital video and audio will be the driving forces.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
